10 October 2026 | Nambour Toads Rugby Union Club, Woombye, Sunshine Coast
Some wedding days are beautiful. Some are emotional. Some are just an absolute PARTY.
And then there are wedding days like Heloise and Harry's, where somehow you get all three wrapped into one incredible celebration.
From champagne popping beside the Maroochy River to heartfelt family moments, rainforest wedding portraits, a seriously impressive cake and a Michael Jackson-inspired first dance that I am STILL thinking about, this was one of those weddings that reminded me exactly why I love what I do.
As a Sunshine Coast wedding photographer, I've photographed weddings at some pretty spectacular venues over the years, but Heloise and Harry's day was a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most unexpected locations deliver the most incredible wedding photos.
And did I mention we captured their day on both digital and 35mm film?
Because that was the cherry on top of an already incredible day.
Getting Ready with Heloise | Beautiful Girls, Champagne & Family Moments
We kicked things off with Heloise and her girls getting ready for the big day, and can we just take a moment to appreciate how absolutely STUNNING everyone looked?!
The atmosphere was everything you could want from a wedding morning. Excitement, laughter, a little bit of chaos (because let's be realistic, it's a wedding morning), and those beautiful moments of anticipation before everything becomes real.
Heloise's daughter was also there getting ready alongside everyone, which made the morning even more special.
There is something incredibly sweet about having your children involved in your wedding day. The little smiles, the excitement, the cuddles and those completely unposed moments that end up becoming some of the most treasured photographs.
We captured some gorgeous photos of Heloise and her daughter together, and honestly, those are the kinds of images that I know will mean even more as the years go by.
One day, her daughter will be able to look back at those photographs and see herself as part of such an important chapter in her family's story.
And that is pretty special.
A Champagne Pop by the Maroochy River
Before getting everyone into their final outfits, we headed just down the road to the beautiful Maroochy River for a little champagne celebration.
Because what's a wedding morning without a champagne pop?!
These moments are always so much fun to photograph. Everyone laughing, trying to time the perfect champagne spray and generally having the best time.
With the river as our backdrop and the girls looking absolutely gorgeous, it was the perfect way to kick off the celebrations.
Afterwards, we headed back to finish getting everyone ready and capture those beautiful bridal party portraits.
We made sure to include Heloise's daughter in the photos too, because this wasn't just about two people getting married. It was about celebrating their family and the beautiful life they were building together.
A Woombye Wedding at Nambour Toads Rugby Union Club
Now, I need to talk about this wedding venue.
When you think about beautiful Sunshine Coast wedding venues, a rugby union club probably isn't the first location that pops into your head.
But let me tell you something.
Never underestimate a wedding venue until you've explored what's hiding behind it!
Heloise and Harry chose the Nambour Toads Rugby Union Club in Woombye for their ceremony and reception, and I was genuinely blown away by the photography opportunities around the property.
Tucked behind the venue was this gorgeous little rainforest area, complete with a creek, beautiful greenery and even a fallen log that turned out to be the PERFECT spot for some seriously epic couple portraits.
It had that beautiful, intimate Sunshine Coast hinterland feeling without needing to travel anywhere.
And as a wedding photographer, finding a location like that right beside the reception venue?
Absolute GOLD.
Not only did it give us stunning backdrops, but it also meant Heloise and Harry could spend more time celebrating with their guests instead of disappearing for hours to have their photos taken.
Which, in my opinion, is exactly how it should be.
A Heartfelt Wedding Ceremony Filled with Family & Love
There is something so special about a wedding ceremony that feels completely authentic to the couple standing at the altar.
Heloise and Harry's ceremony was exactly that.
With the wonderful Married by Megan leading the celebrations, their ceremony was full of heartfelt moments, genuine happiness and some incredibly sweet involvement from their children.
And honestly, having children involved in a wedding ceremony just adds another layer of emotion.
Because while the day is about two people choosing each other, it's also about the family they've created and the memories they'll continue making together.
It's the little moments that always get me.
The smiles exchanged between family members, the children being part of the celebrations and that overwhelming happiness when two people finally get to say, "We're married!"
Those are the moments that make wedding photography so much more than simply taking beautiful pictures.
It's about documenting a feeling.
A moment in time that you can never recreate, but one you can return to through your photographs for the rest of your life.
Rainforest Wedding Photography in Woombye | A Hidden Sunshine Coast Gem
After the ceremony, it was time to steal Heloise and Harry away for some couple portraits.
And when I say steal, I mean we literally wandered just behind their wedding venue.
No long drives. No complicated timeline. No disappearing for half the afternoon.
Just the two of them, me and some ridiculously beautiful scenery.
We started in the rainforest, making the most of the lush greenery, the creek and the gorgeous natural surroundings.
And then there was THE LOG.
Yes, a log.
But not just any log.
A perfectly positioned fallen tree that gave us the opportunity to create some seriously incredible photographs with Heloise and Harry standing together surrounded by rainforest.
Sometimes wedding photography really is about seeing the potential in the most unexpected places.
And this was one of those moments where everything just worked.
We also ventured out towards the grassy areas behind the football field, giving the newlyweds a little privacy while still keeping them close enough to hear their guests enjoying cocktail hour.
I absolutely love doing this for my couples.
Your wedding day goes ridiculously quickly, and while I will always encourage you to make time for beautiful photographs, I also want you to actually enjoy the celebration you've spent so long planning.
You don't need to disappear for two hours to get incredible wedding photos.
Sometimes all you need is a gorgeous little pocket of light, a beautiful location and a couple who are completely wrapped up in each other.
And Heloise and Harry made my job very easy.
Capturing Their Sunshine Coast Wedding on Digital & 35mm Film
One of my favourite little additions to Heloise and Harry's wedding day was the inclusion of 35mm film photographyalongside their digital wedding coverage.
And can I just say, I am LOVING the combination of digital and film at weddings.
Digital photography allows me to capture all those beautiful, crisp, emotional moments throughout the day, while 35mm film brings something completely different to the gallery.
There's a softness to it.
A little bit of grain.
Beautiful colours, imperfect moments and that nostalgic feeling of flicking through photographs from years gone by.
It feels less like a perfectly polished photograph and more like a memory.
And I think that's exactly what makes it so special.
Film photography is particularly beautiful for those in-between wedding moments. The champagne celebrations, the laughter, the little details and the candid interactions that happen when nobody is thinking about the camera.
Having a mixture of digital and 35mm film gives your wedding gallery another layer of storytelling.
It's romantic, nostalgic and just a little bit different.
35mm film wedding photography can be added to Angela Brushe Photography wedding packages starting from $250.
So if you're planning a Sunshine Coast wedding and love that timeless, slightly nostalgic film aesthetic, it's definitely something worth considering.
Wedding Speeches, an Epic Roast Dinner & a Cake That Deserves Its Own Moment
After our couple portraits, it was time to head back and join the celebrations.
We squeezed in the wedding speeches before losing the last of the daylight, which meant we could capture all those wonderful reactions while still making the most of the natural light.
And I love speeches.
They're one of those parts of the wedding day where you get to see so much personality come through.
The heartfelt words, the laughter, the stories and those little glances between the newlyweds when someone says something particularly meaningful.
It's all part of the story.
Then came dinner, and Heloise and Harry absolutely understood the assignment.
An epic roast dinner thanks to Dizzy Spit Roasts!
There is something so wonderful about a relaxed wedding reception where everyone can settle in, enjoy a delicious meal and just celebrate together.
But before we move on, we NEED to talk about the cake.
Because WOW.
The design was absolutely incredible.
You know those wedding cakes that are almost too beautiful to cut?
This was one of them.
Almost.
Because at the end of the day, cake is cake, and it deserves to be eaten.
A Michael Jackson-Inspired First Dance That Absolutely Stole the Show
Okay.
Now THIS is the part of the wedding I need everyone to know about.
Heloise and Harry's first dance.
And when I tell you this was one of the best first dances I've ever photographed, I am not exaggerating.
Forget the traditional slow sway around the dance floor.
These two brought out a Michael Jackson-inspired performance, and it was absolutely EPIC.
The energy. The entertainment. The commitment.
I was OBSESSED.
I have photographed a lot of weddings over the years, and every now and then a couple does something that genuinely catches me off guard in the best possible way.
This was one of those moments.
And I absolutely love it when couples bring their own personality into their wedding day.
There is no rule that says your first dance has to be slow, romantic or traditional.
If you want to put on a full performance and give your guests something to talk about for years to come, PLEASE DO.
Heloise and Harry certainly did.
And honestly, I think they may have set the bar pretty high for future first dances.
Dancing, Nighttime Wedding Photos & One Incredible Celebration
Once the first dance was over, the party was officially underway.
And after a day filled with so much love, laughter and emotion, there was something really wonderful about seeing everyone let loose and celebrate.
Before wrapping up our photography coverage, we also snuck outside for a few nighttime wedding portraits.
I absolutely love including nighttime photographs in a wedding gallery.
They bring such a different atmosphere to the day, and it's a beautiful way to finish the story.
The excitement of the morning has settled, the ceremony nerves are long gone and suddenly it's just two people who are officially married, taking a little moment together before heading back to the celebrations.
And then, just like that, it was time for us to say goodbye.
What a day.
Planning a Woombye Wedding or Sunshine Coast Wedding?
If Heloise and Harry's day proves anything, it's that you don't need an extravagant wedding venue or an overly complicated timeline to have an absolutely incredible wedding.
You need your favourite people, a celebration that feels like YOU and someone there to capture all those beautiful moments as they unfold.
As a multi-award-winning Sunshine Coast wedding photographer, I've spent years photographing weddings across Woombye, Nambour, Maroochy River, Maleny, Montville, Noosa and beyond.
And one of the things I love most about photographing weddings on the Sunshine Coast is the incredible variety of locations available.
From rainforest backdrops and rolling hinterland hills to beautiful riverside locations and relaxed outdoor wedding venues, there is so much opportunity to create something unique.
At Angela Brushe Photography, my approach is all about capturing your wedding day in a way that feels natural, effortless and genuinely YOU.
I love the candid moments, the emotional ones, the ridiculous ones and everything in between.
And if you're someone who feels awkward in front of a camera, don't worry. I'll give you plenty of guidance when you need it, while making sure your photographs still feel natural and relaxed.
My wedding photography packages include unlimited images, beautiful candid storytelling and complimentary engagement sessions with most packages, so we can get you comfortable in front of the camera before the big day.
You can also add 35mm film photography, content creation or videography to selected packages.
Planning your own Sunshine Coast wedding?

From the beautiful moments with your children to the champagne celebrations, rainforest adventures and that unforgettable first dance, your wedding was an absolute joy to photograph.
I hope that every time you look back through your photographs, you're transported right back to how it all felt.
The excitement, the laughter, the love and the wonderful chaos of having all your favourite people together in one place.
And one day, when your children are a little older, I hope these photographs become something you can all sit down and look through together, remembering just how special this chapter of your family's story was.
Thank you for letting me be a little part of it.
And seriously, that first dance?
ICONIC.
All my love,
