Love, Rain & Pizza – A Beautiful Same-Sex Wedding in Samford
When it comes to weddings that reflect the heart and soul of a couple, Harrison and Nic’s special day is one to remember. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, these two incredible men tied the knot on the 17th of May, 2025, at the charming Village Pizzas in Samford.
After heavy rainfall changed their original plans, the couple embraced a new vision, hosting both their ceremony and reception at Village Pizzas. It turned out to be the perfect venue – warm, personal, and filled with heartfelt energy (and let’s not forget the incredible Italian food!).
Nature-Inspired Portraits
Despite the weather shift, we managed to sneak away for some couple portraits nearby. These two love nature, so we explored a beautiful local park and a peaceful creekside spot, capturing some truly intimate and earthy moments.
While we didn’t make it to their original ceremony location — a dreamy paddock setting — we’re hopeful for a golden hour shoot there soon. Sunset, soft light, and wide-open fields? Yes, please.
Pizza, Speeches & Dance Floors
Their reception was exactly how a celebration of love should be — relaxed, heartfelt, and totally them. With a handful of emotional speeches, an endless flow of pizza, and some epic dance floor moments, the vibe was intimate and electric all at once.
And let’s talk about their celebrant, Luke De Gee from Married by Luke. Luke not only officiated their ceremony but also stayed on as their MC and DJ. His energy, humour, and ability to read the room made the entire night flow effortlessly. As a Sunshine Coast wedding photographer, I get the joy of capturing love stories in all forms — and Harrison and Nic’s day was one of those magic moments that reminds me exactly why I do what I do. It wasn’t about having everything go “perfectly” — it was about real connection, laughter, community, and celebrating love in its most authentic form.
