There's something about the drive up into the Sunshine Coast hinterland — the air gets a little cooler, the green gets a little greener, and you just know you're heading somewhere special. That's exactly how I felt driving up to Montville for Elizabeth and Daniel's wedding, and their day did not disappoint. We had the full trio in action for this one — photography, videography and content creation — which meant every single moment of Liz and Dan's day was captured, from the first nervous laugh getting ready to the last song on the dance floor.

Getting ready

The best part about this getting-ready session? Everyone was under one roof. The boys and the girls got ready together at a gorgeous house in Flaxton, just five minutes from the venue — a genius move that saved so much travel time and meant nobody was stressing about convoys or missed turns.

We kicked things off with Dan and his groomsmen, all suited up in sharp black suits and radiating that unmistakable "today's the day" energy. Honestly, I've been spoiled lately with incredible bridal parties, but you can always tell within the first five minutes how a wedding day is going to run — and these boys set the tone early. Big laughs, easy energy, the works.

Then it was over to the girls, where the ridiculously talented Erin Fedele was working her magic on hair and makeup. If you haven't had Erin on your wedding morning, you're missing out — she's genuinely one of the best in Queensland, and the calm she brings to a getting-ready room is worth booking her for alone. Liz had a beautiful string of first-look moments with her bridesmaids and her parents, and with pops of colour running through the bridal party's florals, the whole room felt warm, bright and just a little bit giddy. By the time Liz was zipped into her dress, there was no doubt — these two were more than ready to get married.

The ceremony at Montvale

From Flaxton it was up to Montvale, tucked into the hills of Montville, for the ceremony. Montvale is one of those rare venues that gives you both — sprawling gardens and a chapel — so whatever the Sunshine Coast weather decides to do on your wedding day, you're covered. If you're hunting for a hinterland venue, that flexibility alone is worth keeping on your shortlist. Liz and Dan lucked out with picture-perfect weather, so we made full use of those gardens, and honestly, it made for an incredible backdrop.

Montville ceremony location

Their vows were exchanged in a ceremony run by the wonderful Amanda Jensen, who then swapped hats to MC and DJ the reception later that night — and just to really show off, she also sang live during canapé hour. Genuinely a one-woman wedding day machine, and it made the whole day feel seamless.

Canapés, cameras and content

After the ceremony there was time to breathe — Liz and Dan mingled with guests, grabbed a drink, and let the excitement of just getting married properly sink in. This is where having photography, videography and content creation running side by side really pays off, because nothing gets missed. Liz — who is exactly the kind of bride who wants to see everything — had same-day content in hand within 24 hours, which meant she got to relive her wedding day before she'd even finished the leftover cake.

Couple portraits

Because the weather played along so nicely, we had the run of the venue for portraits. We wandered down to a fig tree with a swing overlooking the lake (an absolute dream for photos, if you ask me), then made our way to one of my favourite sunset spots on the property — a grassy stretch near the reception that catches the golden hour light beautifully. The chapel itself had been dressed by Sunshine Weddings, one of the Sunshine Coast's best stylists, and the styling tied the whole ceremony space together perfectly.

Reception

Once everyone made their way into the reception, it was speeches, cake, laughter, a first dance, and a dance floor that didn't stay empty for long. We wrapped up the night exactly how you'd hope — a little champagne, a lot of dancing, and a final wander back to the fig tree by the ceremony space for some nighttime portraits under the stars.

Liz and Dan, your wedding day was an absolute joy to capture — full stop.
