Some Weddings Just Hit Different. This Was One of Them.
There are wedding days, and then there are wedding days like Laura and Brenton's.
You know those days where everything just comes together? The people, the atmosphere, the happy tears, the ridiculous amount of laughter, and a love story that makes you remember exactly why you fell in love with wedding photography in the first place.
Well, this was one of those days.
And for me, this one was a little extra special.
Before I was ever Laura's wedding photographer, I was her workmate. I've known Laura since before Brenton was even in the picture. I remember hearing about this guy she'd started dating, watching their relationship grow, seeing them welcome their beautiful daughter Rae into the world, and now, here I was, photographing her marrying the love of her life.
Talk about a full-circle moment.
Now, after photographing hundreds of weddings as a Sunshine Coast wedding photographer, I'd like to think I've become pretty good at keeping my emotions in check. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE a good wedding, but it takes a fair bit to get me teary these days.
Apparently, Laura and Brenton didn't get that memo.
Because DAMN. This day got me.
"Sometimes the greatest love stories aren't about finding someone who changes your life overnight. They're about finding someone who makes every chapter that follows a little more beautiful."
And if that doesn't perfectly describe these two, I don't know what does.
A Yandina Station Wedding With All the Extras
Laura and Brenton decided to go all out when it came to capturing their wedding day, and honestly, I couldn't have been more excited.
They booked photography, videography and we had wedding content creation through Angela Brushe Photography, meaning we had a whole team of creatives there to capture their day from every possible angle.
And because apparently we hadn't brought enough cameras already, we also threw some gorgeous 35mm film photography into the mix.
I know. Obsessed.
Film has quickly become one of my favourite additions to wedding days. There's something about the grain, the colours and the imperfect little moments that makes everything feel so beautifully nostalgic. Like photographs you might discover tucked away in an old family album 30 years from now.
Angela Brushe Photography now offers 35mm film wedding photography add-ons starting from $250, perfect for couples wanting a little something extra alongside their digital wedding gallery.
And can I just say, one of the greatest joys of building my photography business has been creating opportunities for other talented creatives.
When couples book multiple services through ABP, they're not just getting a photographer, videographer or content creator. They're supporting a whole team of people who genuinely love what they do.
Having an incredible team around me means we can capture more moments, tell your story in different ways and have a whole lot of fun doing it.
Plus, you get the convenience of organising multiple wedding services through one business. Pretty good deal, if you ask me.
Getting Ready at Yandina Station | The Boys Understood the Assignment
Our day started with Brenton and his groomsmen, who were getting ready on-site at the beautiful Yandina Station.
Now, if you haven't visited Yandina Station recently, you're in for a treat.
This iconic Sunshine Coast wedding venue has undergone some incredible improvements over the last few years, including the addition of new accommodation options.
Having both sides of your wedding party getting ready on-site is such a game changer. Less travelling, less stress, more time for photos, and more opportunities to actually enjoy your morning.
And speaking of enjoying the morning...
THE BOYS.
Honestly, there's a good groomsmen crew, and then there's whatever absolute legends Brenton managed to assemble.
These guys were hilarious.
They were up for absolutely everything we asked them to do, and then some. Every suggestion was met with enthusiasm, laughter and the kind of energy that makes photographing a wedding morning so much fun.
But one of my favourite little details was something Laura had organised herself.
You know how the girls traditionally have their matching pyjamas, champagne and cute getting-ready photos?
Well, Laura decided the boys deserved the same treatment.
And honestly? She's onto something.
So there they were, the boys in their matching PJ shorts, enjoying a champagne spray and having the time of their lives.
Who said getting-ready photos were just for the girls?
After plenty of laughs, a few questionable poses and some seriously good memories, it was time for the boys to swap their pyjamas for their suits from YD.
And just like that, they went from boys' sleepover to wedding-ready gentlemen.
Brenton was looking pretty dapper, and the excitement was officially building.
A Beautiful Bride, Her Best Girls and One Very Cute Little Rae
Next stop, the girls.
And what a beautiful morning this was.
Laura was surrounded by her closest people, including her best friend and her gorgeous daughter Rae, as the final preparations came together.
The talented teams at Sian Howard Bridal and Evalyn Parsons worked their magic on the hair and makeup, and let me tell you, they absolutely nailed it.
One of my favourite moments of the entire morning was watching Laura see herself in the mirror.
She genuinely couldn't believe how beautiful she looked.
And honestly, neither could we.
There's something so special about watching a bride have that moment where everything suddenly feels real. The hair is done, the makeup is perfect, the dress is waiting, and it finally hits...
I'm getting married today.
Laura's stunning gown from Luv Bridal was the perfect finishing touch.
Of course, no getting-ready morning with a little one is complete without a few unpredictable moments.
Because let's be realistic, children do not care about your wedding photography timeline.
They have their own plans.
Thankfully, little Rae was an absolute sweetheart, and we managed to capture some incredibly precious photographs of her with her mum.
These are the kinds of photos that I know will mean even more in 10, 20 or 30 years.
Not just a beautiful bride getting ready for her wedding, but a mother sharing one of the biggest days of her life with her daughter.
Excuse me while I get emotional again.
With Laura dressed, the flowers from Mondo Floral Designs looking absolutely gorgeous and those final bridal portraits captured, it was time.
The ceremony was waiting.
And I don't think any of us were quite prepared for what came next.
The Yandina Station Wedding Ceremony | Someone Was Definitely Chopping Onions
If there's one thing I can say about Laura and Brenton's wedding ceremony, it's that there wasn't a dry eye in sight.
Their ceremony was conducted by the incredible Amanda Jensen, who deserves a special mention because this woman is basically a wedding industry superhero.
Not only is Amanda a fantastic wedding celebrant, but she's also a live musician and DJ.
Yep. One woman. Multiple talents.
If you're still searching for a Sunshine Coast wedding celebrant who can bring personality, warmth and beautiful music to your day, definitely have a look at Amanda's services.
Now, back to the ceremony.
The music started.
The wedding party began making their way down the aisle.
And Brenton?
Well, Brenton was already gone.
The tears started flowing the moment he saw his beautiful daughter Rae.
And if that wasn't emotional enough, then came Laura.
Watching Brenton see his bride for the first time was one of those moments you just cannot manufacture.
Pure, genuine, overwhelming emotion.
The kind that reminds you what a wedding is actually about.
Not the decorations, the timelines or whether everything runs perfectly.
But two people who have built a life together, standing in front of everyone they love, choosing each other all over again.
And their vows?
Some of the most beautiful I've heard in recent years.
There was laughter, there were tears, and there were moments where I genuinely had to remind myself I was there to take photographs and not join the emotional support group happening in the audience.
Even the local wildlife wanted to be involved, with a kookaburra making a guest appearance during the ceremony.
Because of course it did.
It's Queensland. Someone's always got something to say.
With gorgeous golden light filtering through the ceremony space, their beautiful family and friends watching on and the happiest newlyweds standing together, it was honestly one of the most memorable ceremonies I've photographed.
Just magic.
Wedding Photos at Yandina Station | Golden Light, Gorgeous Scenery and the Best Bridal Party
I've photographed weddings at Yandina Station before, and every time I return, I find another reason to fall in love with this Sunshine Coast wedding venue.
And somehow, it just keeps getting better.
Over the last few years, Yandina Station has continued to evolve, with beautiful improvements throughout the property that make it an even more incredible place to celebrate a wedding.
For couples searching for a Yandina Station wedding photographer, one of the biggest advantages of this venue is the variety of wedding photography locations available without needing to leave the property.
From the gorgeous open countryside and rustic country charm to the beautiful trees, sweeping landscapes and dreamy afternoon light, there are so many opportunities to create something special.
And on Laura and Brenton's wedding day?
The weather absolutely understood the assignment.
We were blessed with the most beautiful conditions, and the light was just stunning.
But you know what made photo time even better?
Their bridal party.
I cannot stress this enough: choose your bridal party wisely.
These are the people who will be standing beside you on one of the biggest days of your life. They're the ones helping you get ready, keeping you calm, making you laugh and ensuring you're having the best possible time.
And Laura and Brenton absolutely nailed their choices.
Their entire bridal party brought so much fun and energy to the photos.
They were supportive, hilarious, enthusiastic and genuinely just so happy to be celebrating these two.
As a wedding photographer, I can tell you that having the right people around you makes such a difference.
And once we'd finished having a laugh with the bridal party, it was time to steal Laura and Brenton away for some portraits of just the two of them.
These are always some of my favourite moments.
That little pocket of time after the ceremony when everything finally slows down.
You're married.
The nerves have disappeared.
The formalities are out of the way for a moment.
And you get to stand beside your favourite person, take it all in and realise that this is your life now.
"The best kind of love is finding someone you can be completely ridiculous with, while knowing they're the person you'll want beside you through every serious moment too."
And that is Laura and Brenton to a tee.
We captured a beautiful mixture of romantic portraits, candid moments and plenty of laughter, with some extra nostalgia thanks to their 35mm film photographs.
Honestly, if you're planning a Sunshine Coast wedding and love the idea of country charm mixed with stunning scenery, Yandina Station is definitely a venue worth considering.
A Reception Entrance That Set the Tone for One Epic Party
With the wedding portraits wrapped up, it was time to head back and celebrate.
And let me tell you, Laura and Brenton's reception entrance was NOT a quiet affair.
Their bridal party came in with some seriously epic entrances, bringing the energy and making it very clear that this was going to be a good night.
The atmosphere was incredible.
Everyone was smiling, cheering and ready to celebrate two people they clearly adored.
We heard some beautiful speeches from family members, filled with stories, laughter and those sentimental moments that make wedding receptions so special.
There was a gorgeous wedding cake created by Brownz Bakes, which the newlyweds cut together before moving on to what might genuinely be one of my favourite first dances I've ever photographed.
And I've seen a LOT of first dances.
Cowboy Boots, Spins and a First Dance Nobody Will Forget
Now, Laura and Brenton aren't exactly the traditional slow-dancing type.
And you know what?
I LOVE that.
Because your wedding day should reflect who you actually are as a couple.
If you want to sway romantically to a love song, beautiful.
If you want to choreograph an entire country-themed dance routine complete with cowboy boots, spins and lifts?
EVEN BETTER.
And that's exactly what these two did.
Their first dance was an absolute SHOW.
There were spins.
There were lifts.
There were cowboy boots.
And there were two newlyweds having the absolute time of their lives.
The whole room was loving it.
Honestly, I think I spent half the dance photographing and the other half wondering how on earth they'd managed to pull off some of those moves.
It was fun, completely unexpected and so perfectly them.
And isn't that exactly what a wedding should be?
A celebration of your relationship, your personalities and all the little things that make your love story different from everyone else's.
With the first dance finished, the party was officially underway.
We squeezed in an epic champagne pop, captured a few more moments of the celebrations and left Laura and Brenton to enjoy the rest of their night surrounded by their favourite people.
And what a way to finish.
From matching PJ shorts and emotional vows to cowboy boots and champagne flying through the air, I genuinely don't think we could have asked for a better wedding day.

To Laura & Brenton, Thank You.
Where do I even begin?
Laura, from knowing you before Brenton came along, to watching your beautiful little family grow and now being the person trusted to capture your wedding day...
What an absolute privilege.
There's something incredibly special about being invited to photograph a friend's wedding, especially when you've had the chance to watch so much of their story unfold.
Brenton, seeing how much you adore Laura and Rae was honestly one of the most beautiful parts of the day.
You two have built something pretty special together.
Thank you both for trusting me and the ABP team to capture these memories, for giving us so many incredible moments to photograph and for throwing one seriously unforgettable wedding.
I hope when you look back at these photographs in 20 years, you remember exactly how this day felt.
The happy tears.
The laughter.
The people who surrounded you.
And, of course, those absolutely iconic cowboy boots.
What a day. What a couple. What a love story.
All my love,
Ange xx
