Shelby & Jaysen’s Wedding at The Acre Boomerang Farm

3 October 2026 | The Acre, Boomerang Farm, Gold Coast

Some wedding days are beautiful. Some are emotional. Some are an absolute party from start to finish. And then there are weddings like Shelby and Jaysen’s, where you somehow manage to get all three wrapped up into one pretty spectacular Saturday.

Set amongst the lush greenery and towering palm trees of The Acre at Boomerang Farm on the Gold Coast, Shelby and Jaysen celebrated their wedding surrounded by their favourite people, their two beautiful daughters, and a whole lot of love.

And honestly? What a day.

There's something particularly special about watching two people find their way to each other, especially when life hasn't always been smooth sailing.

“Sometimes love isn't about finding someone who makes life perfect. It's about finding someone who makes every difficult chapter worth getting through, and every beautiful chapter even better.”

And that's exactly what this day felt like. A celebration of everything that had brought them here, everything they had built together, and all the wonderful things still to come.

As a Sunshine Coast wedding photographer who regularly travels to the Gold Coast, I get to photograph some pretty incredible love stories. But there was something about Shelby and Jaysen's wedding that made this one particularly memorable.

Getting Ready With the Boys – Beers, Banter & One Very Special Best Man

We kicked off the day with Jaysen and the boys getting ready at a gorgeous villa overlooking the Gold Coast.

And when I say the views were incredible, I mean INCREDIBLE.

Perched above the coastline with beautiful views stretching out in the distance, it was a pretty spectacular place to spend the morning before getting married. Even better, it was conveniently located close to The Acre, meaning no unnecessarily long drives or frantic rushing around.

The boys were exactly how you'd hope a groom's party would be on a wedding morning. Cool, calm, collected, and very much looking forward to a few beers.

No stress. No chaos. Just good company, plenty of laughs, and the occasional reminder that there was, in fact, a wedding happening that afternoon.

But my absolute favourite detail?

Jaysen's best man was his daughter.

I KNOW. HOW CUTE IS THAT?!

There's something so incredibly sweet about including your children in such an important role on your wedding day. Weddings are about so much more than two people saying "I do". They're about families, the people who have shaped our lives, and celebrating the love that already exists alongside the love you're promising for the future.

And having his daughter right there beside him? I don't think you could ask for anything more special than that.

Bridal Preparations at The Acre – A Dream Dress & All the Girly Fun

Meanwhile, over at The Acre Boomerang Farm, Shelby and her girls were getting ready on-site.

One of the things I love about wedding venues that offer getting-ready spaces is how much easier they can make the morning. You're already where you need to be, surrounded by your favourite people, and you can actually enjoy the experience rather than spending half the morning worrying about getting somewhere on time.

Shelby had an incredible hair and makeup team helping everyone get wedding-ready, and the whole morning was filled with laughter, excitement and those lovely little moments that make bridal preparations so much fun to photograph.

And then there was THE DRESS.

Oh. My. Goodness.

Shelby's wedding dress was genuinely what bridal dreams are made of.

You know those dresses that make you stop for a second and think, "Yep, that's the one"?

This was absolutely one of them.

With her bridesmaids helping her into her dress and putting all those finishing touches together, everything started to feel very real. All the planning, the excitement, the anticipation — suddenly it was happening.

I always love this part of a wedding day. The giggles, the final adjustments, everyone telling the bride how beautiful she looks (because obviously she does), and that little moment where you realise you're about to marry your favourite person.

And Shelby? Absolutely stunning.

A Heartfelt Wedding Ceremony at The Acre, Boomerang Farm

If you're searching for a Gold Coast wedding venue surrounded by beautiful greenery, The Acre at Boomerang Farm is certainly one to have on your list.

The property has such a gorgeous natural atmosphere, with tropical landscaping, beautiful open spaces and plenty of opportunities for wedding photography without needing to travel anywhere else.

And for Shelby and Jaysen, it made the perfect setting to officially become husband and wife.

Jaysen made his arrival in a gorgeous old car, which was a pretty fantastic way to kick things off.

Because why arrive at your wedding normally when you can arrive in style?

With their closest friends and family gathered around them, the ceremony was everything a wedding ceremony should be.

Heartfelt vows. Wedding rings. A beautiful first kiss as husband and wife.

And most importantly, two people choosing each other.

I think sometimes we get so caught up in the big details of weddings — the flowers, the dress, the styling, the timeline — that we forget just how incredible the actual ceremony is.

You're standing in front of the people who mean the most to you, promising to spend your lives together. Through the exciting moments, the difficult ones, the ordinary Tuesdays, and everything in between.

And when children are part of that story, it becomes even more meaningful.

Because Shelby and Jaysen weren't just celebrating their marriage. They were celebrating the beautiful family they had created together.

And honestly, that's the good stuff.

Golden Hour Wedding Photos Amongst the Palm Trees at The Acre

Now, let's talk about one of my favourite parts of the day.

The couple portraits. Obviously.

One of the reasons I love photographing weddings at The Acre Boomerang Farm is the variety of beautiful backdrops available around the property.

From the lush greenery to the palm trees and surrounding golf course, there are so many gorgeous locations to work with.

And with sunset quickly approaching, we had a mission.

Find the beautiful light. Make some magic. Get everyone back to the party.

Easy enough, right?

Golden hour wedding photography of Shelby and Jaysen

We kept our wedding photography session around the golf course and palm trees, making the most of the gorgeous afternoon light before the sun disappeared.

And can we just talk about how lucky we were with the weather?!

Queensland weather can be a little unpredictable at the best of times, but this particular weekend really came through for us.

Beautiful conditions, gorgeous soft light, and two newlyweds who were more than happy to have some fun in front of the camera.

What more could a wedding photographer ask for?

We also made sure to capture some beautiful photographs with Shelby and Jaysen's two daughters.

These are always some of my favourite images from a wedding day.

Because while your wedding photographs are obviously about celebrating the two of you, they're also about capturing this exact chapter of your lives.

Your children at this age. Their little personalities. The way they fit into your arms. The smiles, the cuddles, and all those little things that will look so different in ten or twenty years.

Those photographs are going to mean absolutely everything one day.

And then, of course, we snuck away for some portraits of just Shelby and Jaysen.

A little time together, some beautiful golden light, plenty of laughs, and a chance to actually enjoy being newlyweds before heading back to celebrate.

Nothing overly stiff. Nothing awkward.

Just two people who are completely in love, looking pretty incredible while doing it.

That's my favourite kind of wedding photography.

A Little 35mm Film Magic – The Perfect Wedding Photography Add-On

And because apparently gorgeous digital wedding photos weren't enough, Shelby and Jaysen also had a little 35mm film photography to their wedding day.

And honestly? The PERFECT addition.

There's just something about film that I absolutely adore. The nostalgic colours, the beautiful grain, the slightly imperfect moments that somehow end up being the most perfect photographs.

It's giving old-school romance, and I'm absolutely here for it.

I love using 35mm film alongside my digital wedding photography to capture those little in-between moments. The candid laughs, the stolen kisses, the moments you don't even realise are happening.

It's not about replacing your digital wedding photos. It's about adding another beautiful layer of memories to your day.

And the best part? Film has this incredible way of making a photograph feel like a memory before you've even had time to miss the moment.

Something about the colours, the texture, and the unpredictability of it all just feels so timeless.

35mm film photography is now available as an add-on to Angela Brushe Photography wedding packages, starting from just $250.

So if you're planning your own Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast wedding and love that nostalgic, timeless film look, this might just be the perfect little extra for your day.

Because some memories deserve a little film magic.

An Epic Wedding Reception at The Acre – Speeches, Dancing & One Very Good Party

With the formalities complete and the sun setting over the Gold Coast, it was time to head into the reception.

And if the rest of the day was anything to go by, I knew we were in for a good one.

Shelby and Jaysen made an epic entrance, setting the tone for a night filled with celebration, laughter and plenty of dancing.

There were speeches, beautiful words shared by loved ones, and all those little moments that remind you why having your favourite people together in one room is so special.

I always say that one of the most underrated parts of a wedding is simply having everyone you love in the same place.

Think about it.

Your family, your closest friends, people who have known you for decades, and people who have been there through all the different chapters of your life.

All gathered together for one reason.

To celebrate you.

How special is that?

And once the formalities were out of the way, it was time to let loose.

With the incredible team from Elevation Live Band bringing the entertainment, the celebrations continued well into the evening.

The dance floor was the place to be, and Shelby and Jaysen certainly knew how to celebrate their wedding properly.

Honestly, from the morning preparations to the final moments of the reception, this was one of those days that was just FUN.

Beautiful people. Beautiful location. Beautiful love story.

And one very happy photographer heading home with a whole lot of photos to edit.

Why The Acre Boomerang Farm Is a Beautiful Gold Coast Wedding Venue

If you're currently planning your own Gold Coast wedding and looking for somewhere with plenty of natural beauty, The Acre at Boomerang Farm is a venue worth exploring.

One of the things I particularly loved about photographing Shelby and Jaysen's wedding here was how much variety we had available without needing to leave the property.

The surrounding greenery, palm trees, golf course and beautiful outdoor spaces all provided gorgeous backdrops for their wedding photographs.

And when you're working with a wedding day timeline, having everything relatively close together is a massive bonus.

Less time travelling means more time celebrating, more time with your guests, and more opportunities to capture those genuine, candid moments throughout the day.

The property also offers a beautiful contrast between its lush tropical surroundings and its open, natural landscapes, making it a wonderful setting for couples who love outdoor wedding photography.

Whether you're dreaming of romantic golden hour portraits, relaxed family photographs, or simply a beautiful place to celebrate with everyone you love, The Acre Boomerang Farm has plenty to offer.

And after photographing Shelby and Jaysen's wedding here, I can safely say it made for one pretty spectacular wedding day.
