Olivia & Tom | A Twin Waters Golf Club Wedding, Sunshine Coast
"They didn't just find their soulmate, they found their best friend, their teammate, and the first member of the family they're about to build together."
Where do I even start with this one? Olivia and Tom met back in high school, and there is something so lovely about photographing a couple who have genuinely grown up alongside each other, watching them stand at the altar as two people who have shared almost their whole lives already, and are just getting started on the rest of it. Honestly, their wedding day was perfect from start to finish. The weather gave us blue skies with just enough breeze to make the confetti photos interesting (thanks for that one, Mother Nature), and their wedding day at Twin Waters Golf Club was every bit the fairytale that wedding dreams are made of.
If you're after a Sunshine Coast wedding venue that gives you golf-course glamour, beach access minutes away, and a reception space that transitions seamlessly from "golden hour drinks" to "dance floor chaos," keep reading, because Twin Waters Golf Club just might be it.
Getting Ready: Two Sides, One Complex
Olivia and Tom kept things simple and stress-free by having both bridal parties get ready at Mongolia Lane, a set of spacious, beautifully lit apartments right next door to Twin Waters Golf Club. As a photographer, I will always sing the praises of a getting-ready location with good natural light, and this one delivered in spades.
On the boys' side, Tom and his best man (who also happens to be his brother, be still my heart) kept the morning relaxed, equal parts nervous energy and inside jokes. Meanwhile, over with the girls, Olivia was surrounded by her parents, her two sisters, and her best friend, the kind of quiet, giggly, hairspray-scented chaos that makes for the best candid shots of the whole day.
Hair and makeup were beautifully handled by Hayley Patterson MUA, who took care of the entire bridal party under one roof. If there is one tip I give every couple, it's this: having one artist manage both hair and makeup means no scheduling gymnastics and no coordinating two different teams on the morning of your wedding. Just calm, beautiful, unhurried getting-ready time, and Hayley delivered exactly that.
The Ceremony: Twin Waters Golf Club
From there, it was time to walk down the aisle at Twin Waters Golf Club, and can we talk about this venue for a second? It is genuinely one of the most functional and photogenic wedding venues on the Sunshine Coast, offering ceremony, reception, and jaw-dropping couple photo backdrops all in the one location. No convoy of cars, no logistical headaches, just rolling green fairways and golden light.
The ceremony itself was led by the wonderful Jennifer Kennedy, who wove together Olivia and Tom's story from high school sweethearts to a couple about to move up north to Airlie Beach together. A celebrant who takes the time to write a genuinely personal, heartfelt ceremony is an absolute gift to a wedding day, and Jennifer's words had guests (and yes, their photographer) reaching for tissues.
Golden Hour and a Beach Detour
Cocktail hour kicked off with acoustic tunes from Call Me Will, who later flipped the switch into full DJ mode to carry the party into the night, proof that booking a musician who does both is one of the smartest moves you can make for your wedding day.
While the golf course gave us plenty of stunning couple and bridal party photos, Olivia and Tom wanted something extra, so we snuck off to Mudjimba Beach for their couple session. Cotton candy skies, glassy blue water, and two people who are so clearly, effortlessly in love. Honestly, photographing this pair felt less like directing and more like just getting out of the way and letting them exist together.
The Reception: Sparklers, Speeches, and Sperry Tents
Back at the venue, Olivia and Tom made their entrance through a sparkler tunnel at dusk, and if you have never watched a sparkler exit at golden hour on the Sunshine Coast, you are missing out on pure magic. Heartfelt speeches from close family followed, then the two shared their first dance under Sperry Tents, whose marquee kept guests comfortable outside before the party moved indoors for the reception proper.
And then? They danced the night away. As they should.
Olivia and Tom, thank you for having me capture your day. It was, without a doubt, one for the books.
